Photos Scanning

How do I prepare my photos for scanning?

All you have to do is select the photos you want digitized and pack your box to ship, or choose EZD2D and we send everything you need. If you would like to keep the photos in a specific order, separate them by sections with a paper on top of each stack detailing your request. Our technicians will work carefully to ensure your memories are transformed to your standards. For more information, check out our how it works page.

How long will it take to complete my order?

Our standard service time is 1-2 weeks, from the moment we receive your package to the moment your photos are available online and your package is on its way.

Will I get my original photos back?

When placing your order, you may choose to have your original photos returned to you or have them disposed once they are digitized. Original photos will be shipped back along with any new formats you have requested, such as a Hard Drive or USB containing your memories.

What are the prepaid box sizing options?

EZD2D uses a standard 11 1/4″ x 8 3/4″ x 6″ box that holds approximately 1,100 photos. Bigger job?  Rush Job? Contact us if you can’t find what you need.

What happens if my photos are curled or bent?

Any photo that is excessively curled or bent will not be scanned. Photos sent to us need to be able to lay flat when stacked with other photos. If the photos scanned are slightly bent, some distortion of the digitized image may occur due to the uneven surface.

Can you combine multiple boxes into one order?

No. Every box that enters our facility is assigned to a different technician for scanning. We do this to ensure that no orders get mixed with others or no returns get sent to the wrong customer. If you order multiple prepaid boxes, each package is treated as its own order. We do this for the security and privacy of the valuable moments of our customers’ lives and apologize for any inconvenience.

Do your prepaid boxes ever expire?

Your returned prepaid box order for scanning must be received back to our facilities within 6 months from the date the order was placed. Otherwise, the box expires and no consideration, obligation or monetary reimbursement of any kind will be provided; so, you have six months to gather your pictures and send them to us for scanning.

Why should I digitize my old photos?

Over time, old photos have shown to become discolored, fade, or become damaged from improper storing. Scanning these photos to digital links will allow you to become more organized. Prepare your photos now for the next event. Need photos for a graduation, wedding, birthday, or anniversary? Have them ready now. Trying to figure out what to do with old boxes? Replace them with a hard drive. Can’t figure out how to divide the family photo album? Get a digital copy for every family member. Simply forward your digital link to them or contact us for additional drives and they can view these memories at a higher quality than ever before.

Slides Scanning

What is the difference between standard and premium scanning?

Our standard scanning service costs 20% less than the premium. No color adjustments are applied and your slides will appear true to their original quality upon scanning.
With our premium scanning service, each of your slides are handled carefully by our technicians. They hand scan each slide and apply color correcting technology to achieve the optimum quality for your digitized images.

What is the best way to clean slides?

We recommend spraying your slides with compressed air to remove unwanted dust or dirt without scratching the images. Follow this by gently dusting each slide with an anti-static brush. Our technology is designed to remove small amounts of dust or dirt, but we recommend a quick cleaning before you ship them to us to ensure a better digitalized quality.

How large of a print can I make from scanned images?

With 150 DPI picture scans, you can print 4”x6” or 5”x7” photographs.

With 2,000 DPI slide scans and 300 DPI picture scans, you can print up to an 8"x10" photograph. You have the ability to go larger, but some distortion of pixels may occur at those sizes.
With 4,000 DPI scans and 600 DPI picture scans, you can produce up to 20"x30" clear poster sized prints.

Can I download the returned disc to my computer?

Yes. None of the discs we send you are copy-protected meaning you can download them, burn them to additional discs, or even create slide shows. These are your memories, so we give you the ability to share them in any way you prefer.

Negatives Scanning

Are my negatives returned to me?

Yes, if you choose, all of your original negatives will be returned to you along with the selected media containing your scanned images. If you want them destroyed, we hold them in our secure facility until they are professionally shredded.

What is the best way to clean my negatives?

We recommend using an anti-static cloth, microfiber works best. Gently wipe the film negative from one side to the other, keeping an eye out for any abrasive material that may cause scratches. Our technology is designed to remove small amounts of dust or dirt before scanning, but we recommend a quick cleaning before sending your items to us to ensure the best quality scans.

Can you custom name my files?

Due to the large volume of orders we receive, we cannot custom name each one of your scanned images. We typically scan your negatives and organize them into folders beginning at 01, 02, etc. You can easily rename your files once you receive your media.

Films & Videos Scanning

Can you combine more than one tape to DVD?

No. Each tape we receive is converted to one DVD to ensure that no orders are combined with others or that no tapes are misplaced. We do this for the security and privacy of the valuable moments of our customers’ lives and apologize for any inconvenience.

What videotape formats can you convert to DVD?

We accept standard VHS, mini VHS, VHS-C, and Hi8 NTSC format tapes.

Do you view your customer's home movies?

Your videos are private and we do not view or save the tapes that we receive. However, to comply with Federal Copyright law we are required to review the beginning of the film to ensure we are not digitizing a copyrighted video. We will randomly spot check the finalized DVD to ensure it reaches our quality standards for your satisfaction.

What is the maximum videotape time that can be converted to DVD?

We limit our conversion to 2 hours per disc. While it is possible to fit longer times on discs, we keep this limit to ensure your videos will be viewable at the best quality. At any longer time, more compression is required which results in a lower quality video.
